My entry into the real estate sector began during my school years. Outside of attending classes at NYU, I worked as a leasing assistant in New York's financial district. I was responsible for showing apartments to potential tenants and assisting with their applications. This experience provided the foundation for my subsequent role as a Marketing Coordinator at Marcus and Millichap, where I created Offering Memorandums for agents in Boston and New York, facilitating investments in commercial NNN properties throughout New England.
However, my interest in data analytics began at Harvard University’s Healthy Buildings Program. There, I supported scholars by cleaning, automating, and visualizing data to elucidate the impact of environmental factors on health and performance outcomes, such as the relationship between outdoor temperature and student test scores, and CO2 levels on the wellbeing of HIV patients.
I further expanded my experience by joining the Administration for Children and Families' Office of Head Start program (OHS) as an intern. Here, I worked on ensuring all New England counties provided OHS services, using ArcGIS software for the first time. Once the project was completed, I took the initiative to incorporate more data into the model - the rate of poverty per county, for example - and this data led to valuable discussions about where to establish additional centers.
My internship ultimately led to a full-time position at the OHS where I took charge of the Head Start Program's Regional One database and oversaw all data management and report generation for the region. My superiors repeatedly recognized me for my excellent mapping work, some of which they ultimately presented to the Director of OHS in Washington DC. Following this, I spearheaded national ArcGIS meetings, becoming Head Start's primary ArcGIS expert.
However, it was at STAG Industrial – my current employer – that I first had the opportunity to incorporate my work with data analytics into the real estate sector. At STAG, decision-makers routinely call upon me to create and enhance their business intelligence via my areas of special expertise. Moreover, these decision-makers at STAG routinely showcase my work in both decision-making meetings and at investor presentations / real estate conferences.
But even as my work has become more focused, my overarching goal has remained the same. Via my skill set and experience, I seek to enhance both the intrinsic value and market prominence of my employers by collaborating with cross-functional teams to create bespoke, data-driven strategies that will aid decision-makers; reduce the time required to shepherd a project from conceptualization to implementation; and, in these ways among others, to contribute to my employers’ ongoing growth.
